First class on the TFG to Rome

Leaving Venice behind, we managed to get first class on the fast train to Rome, which was very relaxing and comfortable.

After checking into our Hotel we hit the Metro (very busy, not as slick as the Underground or the Paris Metro) & went for a walk around the Rome Colosseum which is very impressive.  We arrived too late to go inside, but got the gist.

Next day (our only full day here), we visited the Pope, really impressed with his telly (image below - but notice it's not wide screen!).  Knocked out by St Peter's, just an awsome building.  Walked for miles in the Vatican to finally see the Sistine Chapel, which was worth the wait.

Yes this entry is short, have a bit of catching up to do!

Hi J&D
Really enjoying your travelogue and starting to look forward to my trip now. Expect intensive questioning re travel tips when you get back!
Worms, plants etc all fine.
Take care of yourselves,
Cheers
Ellen

A public holiday here today so relaxing in front of your travel pics and thinking back to how impressive and awe-inspiring St Peters and the Sistine Chapel were for us too.
Lucky you!! Can't believe June and winter are here already, although you wouldn't know it looking at the bright blue sky today.
Glad to see you're only doing blog entries every few days....I'd be a bit worried if you weren't finding more of interest outside your hotel!! How about some pics of the quaint cafes, restaurants and interesting food?? (Just to get all our senses going!)

Hi Jenny & Dave, Great to get back from hospital to catch up with your travels. Glad to see where you've been and the great snapshots. I'm doing very well and have been home 3 days now; more or less just carrying on as before with a few limitations. Kevin coped very well in my absence with the help of family. Keep on enjoying your adventure. Loraine and Kevin

Hi Guys
Just had some pre retirement for the evening fun scrolling thru the website. Fantastic journey. All very mundane in comparison back here. Beautiful views to a whole other world! Michael is hassling me to get onto computer to download songs onto his MP3...the joys of having an adolescent son.
Take good care of yourselves.
Much love, Sue and crew.

Hi Jen & Dave! Sounds as though you are having a great trip. Very envious about all the historic places you have visited.
